2025

Establishment

The establishment of the Saudi Aviation Club was not a straightforward process for HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the club’s founder and chairman of the board. It faced numerous challenges, requiring multiple meetings with the Bureau of Experts and the Council of Ministers. On December 4, 2000 (9/8/1421 H), the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (217) officially established the club as a non-profit entity, with the mission of promoting aviation culture and sciences, and fostering an environment for learning and aviation activities.

Opening Al Thumamah Airport

That same year, Al Thumamah Airport in Riyadh was inaugurated as the operational base of the club. Certified under GACAR (Part 139), the airport spans 3,000,000 m² within the King Khalid Royal Reserve, located 28.9 km north of King Khalid International Airport.

2025

Transfer of Club Affiliation to the General Authority of Civil Aviation

On April 22, 2013 (12/6/1434 H), the Saudi Aviation Club’s affiliation was transferred from the Ministry of Defense to the General Authority of Civil Aviation, pursuant to the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (189).

Alrass Airport - April 24, 2024

The Saudi Aviation Club Airport was opened in Al-Rass Governorate, west of Al-Qassim Region, on April 24, 2024, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce in Al-Rass Governorate, on a total area of (17,600,000) million and 600 thousand square meters.

Al-Madinah Airport

The Saudi Aviation Club (SAC) Airport in the Al Madinah Al Munawwarah region is about 43 Km North of Al Medina. The airport consists of one Runway of approximately 1200 meters (3,937 Ft) long. Medina Airport is under development and operates partly by previous arrangements (50%)
