Overview

Paragliding is a recreational activity and a type of light sport aviation. Pilots fly non-engine aircraft known as (Gliders) which depend on the atmospheric air currents and help the aircraft remain stable.

There are different types of gliders, including:

Powered Parachute (PPC)

A powered parachute, often abbreviated as PPC, is a flexible-winged, light sport aircraft primarily used for recreational purposes. It consists of an individual or tandem sport vehicle with lightweight lower wheels connected to an upper parachute.

A PPC trike combines a three or four-wheeled cart structure, carrying a pilot and motor, with a large wing similar to those used by parachutists. The engine's thrust propels the cart forward and forces air into the wing's leading edge, causing it to inflate and pressurize, maintaining its designed airfoil shape.

These vehicles are known for their high performance, balance, and the ability to fly in high temperatures.

Powered Paragliding (PPG)

Powered paragliding, also known as paramotor or PPG, is an individual sport and a form of ultralight aviation. In PPG, the pilot wears a back-mounted motor that provides enough thrust to take off using a paraglider.

PPG requires courage, intelligence, willpower, and high physical fitness. The paraglider achieves balance by utilizing the air masses it hovers within to remain airborne for extended periods. Therefore, the paraglider is equipped with meters to help the pilot determine altitude, direction, and air velocity. These instruments indicate the wings' balance and their horizontal position.

Some paragliders can reach altitudes of 4,000 feet or more, cover distances of up to 150 miles, and achieve speeds of 100 km/hour.

Paramotors have additional applications in scientific and military fields, but they have gained popularity as a sport, attracting many enthusiasts. Numerous world championships are held for this sport.

By participating in paragliding, individuals can experience the thrill of flying and navigate the skies using the power of wind and air currents. It offers a unique and exhilarating way to enjoy the freedom of flight.
