Twenty Years Ago: Two Saudi Princes Led the “Arabian Winds” Expedition on the Kingdom’s First Major Paragliding Exploration Journey
Twenty years ago, the Saudi Aviation Club launched the Arabian Winds expedition from Thumamah, flying three gliders across Saudi Arabia for daily 600–800 km legs and documenting the Kingdom from the sky, led by Saudi princes with a British pilot.

Arabian Winds: The first glider flight across Saudi Arabia
Join this exceptional adventure as the video tells the story of the first glider flight across Saudi Arabia in July 2006. Led by HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman with HRH Prince Bandar and Captain John Bally, the journey covered 5,000 kilometers over the vast sands of the Empty Quarter, rugged mountains, and historic sites including the Nabataean temples and the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
