Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 06 November 2025: The Saudi Aviation Club today announced its ambitious plan to achieve a groundbreaking global feat during the General Aviation Airshow 2025 Sand & Fun. The Club, in association with international experts Aeropact and Flash Art, will attempt to break a new Guinness World Records™ title, setting a new global benchmark for aerial entertainment and innovation. The historic attempt will take place at Al Thumamah Airport, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from November 26 to 28, 2025, aiming to draw over 200,000 visitors to enjoy the entertainment zones for both children and adults.
The Saudi Aviation Club will be attempting to break the Guinness World Records™ title for “Most fireworks launched while suspended from a helicopter”.
Commenting on the announcement, His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Founder and Chairman of the Saudi Aviation Club, said: “This achievement will solidify the Kingdom’s position as a global center for innovation in the general aviation sector and confirms our ability to integrate advanced technology with passion and creativity. We are not just showcasing the future; we are creating it in our skies, and we invite the world to share this historic moment at Sand & Fun 2025”.
This spectacular display, a world-first performance, is a powerful symbol of the Kingdom’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of aerial entertainment and setting a new global benchmark in airshow innovation. The performance will combine cutting-edge aviation engineering with creative show technology and stands as a tribute to the collaboration between the Saudi Aviation Club and international creative and technical experts.
The record attempt will utilize a Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm BP 105 P1M helicopter equipped with a custom-designed pyrotechnic platform, capable of firing hundreds of fireworks in perfect synchronization while the helicopter is in flight.
The General Aviation Airshow 2025 Sand & Fun will run from November 25 to 29, 2025, at Al Thumamah Airport in Riyadh, and will feature over 90 aerial displays and a wide array of interactive activities.
Visitors can witness in this year’s airshow, with rich and inspiring experiences blending spectacular aerial displays with deep educational content, including:
- Aerial Displays (Sky Ventures): Features over 90 dazzling air displays, including performances by specialized nightly shows illuminating the Riyadh sky.
- Static Displays: These displays offer a unique and direct experience for aviation enthusiasts, allowing visitors to get up close with a collection of iconic aircrafts and explore their complex details firsthand. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage directly with pilots and engineers, learning the secrets of the aviation world and taking memorable photos in this exciting and educational environment.
- Exhibitions: The Exhibitions serve as a vital business hub and strategic center within the airshow, featuring over 100 leading exhibitors showcasing the latest technologies and innovations in the general aviation sector. This zone is dedicated to technical and commercial aspects, facilitating high-value partnerships and supporting joint ventures between local and international companies, in alignment with the Kingdom’s economic development goals.
- Hangar Talks: “Hangar Talks” host elite experts and Saudi astronauts to discuss the future of sustainable general aviation and advanced technologies such as electric vertical take-off and landing aircrafts (eVTOLs), autonomous aircrafts, and artificial intelligence applications.
- Learning and Entertainment (Aviatainment Zone): The zone is dedicated to “Learning Through Wonder”, offering virtual reality simulators, workshops for building aircraft models and engines, and interactive cockpit tours with pilots and experts.
The airshow is an essential hub for networking, having attracted over 100 exhibitors and more than 3,000 VIP visitors and international delegations in its previous edition. In the context of reinforcing the airshow’s status as a vital business and partnership platform, the Club will be joined by the Saudi Ballooning Federation, Cluster2, and the General Authority of Civil Aviation, along with Health Holding Company, and Al Eqtisadiah newspaper as strategic partners and sponsors.
