The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Saudi Aviation Club, hosted the 118th General Conference of the International Air Sports Federation (FAI) from November 19 to 21 in Riyadh. The event welcomed delegations from over 90 countries, along with a distinguished group of experts and specialists in aviation and global air sports.
This hosting coincided with the launch of the Saudi General Aviation Exhibition "Sand & Fun 2024," marking the first event of its kind in the Kingdom. It underscores Saudi Arabia’s position as a prominent global destination for international aviation and air sports events. The conference aimed to enhance international cooperation in advancing air sports, sharing expertise, and holding a series of meetings and discussions addressing various topics in the global air sports sector.
The conference began with the FAI’s annual awards ceremony, during which FAI President David Monks and Dr. Ahmed Al-Fahaid, General Supervisor of the Saudi Aviation Club, presented medals and diplomas to the winners. Additionally, Greg Principato was elected as FAI President for two years, and the conference welcomed new members and recently joined affiliates.
His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of the Saudi Aviation Club, expressed his pride in the Kingdom’s hosting of this global event. He highlighted that organizing such events reflects Saudi Arabia's strong commitment to supporting the aviation and air sports sector in alignment with Vision 2030.
